Ford CEO Expects Hybrid Demand to Grow
Ford is setting its sights on a greener future, with plans to significantly boost hybrid sales in the coming years. Despite a massive investment in electric vehicles (EVs) and the construction of new EV production plants, Ford’s CEO Jim Farley reaffirmed the company’s commitment to hybrid technology. Ford’s President Kumar Galhotra predicts that hybrid vehicles will continue to thrive, especially in regions where EV infrastructure is still in its infancy.
Farley emphasized Ford’s dedication to offering customers a range of options, from traditional internal combustion engines (ICE) to hybrids and full electrics. Notably, Ford’s hybrid lineup has been gaining popularity, with the F-150 leading the charge as the best-selling vehicle in the U.S. for 46 consecutive years. Hybrid variants, accounting for 10% of F-150 sales and 56% of Mavericks, reflect this growing trend. With plans to expand hybrid options across its ICE lineup, Ford aims to quadruple hybrid sales within the next five years, positioning itself as a significant player in the market.
This surge in hybrid sales aligns with Ford’s second-quarter financial report, where strong performances from the Ford Pro commercial and Ford Blue ICE divisions offset losses from the EV sector.
